Bathroom Cabinet Ideas for Smaller Spaces

If you have purchased a vintage home, you understand how small some of the spaces can be. One of these smaller areas of a vintage home is usually the bathroom. If you are considering hiring a remodelling contractor to help with bathroom remodelling, you may be concerned with adding more storage to this area. Here are a few ideas for bathroom cabinets and smaller bathroom spaces.

Over the Toilet Cabinets

An area that is often overlooked for bathroom storage is above the toilet. This space is usually against a flat wall that is rarely used. You can have an over-the-toilet cabinet placed in this area. This cabinet can have space for toilet paper, towels, bath cloths or your bathroom cleaning supplies. With the proper doors and placement, the items inside of the cabinet can be hidden away and the space can be used properly.

Sliding Cabinets

One of the most popular places that you may see sliding cabinets used is in laundry rooms. The cabinet can be placed between a washer and dryer and hold various items. Once used, the cabinet can be slid back into place and hidden out of sight. This same type of cabinet construction can be used in smaller bathrooms. You can place the sliding cabinets next to a doorway, between a shower or tub and a toilet or between a sink and a wall. These sliding cabinets can be moved out and store items such as beauty items, shampoo, soaps and other similar bathroom items. This utilizes a very small space that normally would not be used.

Above Sink Cabinets

You may find that many vintage homes do not have medicine cabinets in place. With the loss of the medicine cabinet, you do lose vital space for medications, skincare products and first aid tools. These items are small and can easily be lost in a bathroom or become damaged. In order to use the small space of your bathroom, consider having a medicine cabinet installed. You can have these installed with mirrors on them so you do not lose the mirror that you have while you still gain the storage space for your medical items.

These are just a few of the ideas that you can use for bathroom cabinets in your small bathroom space. Your renovation contractor may have other options in mind. During an initial consultation, the contractor can do an on-site inspection of the bathroom to determine what options may be available and which ones may be ideal for you.
